Auty Cup- Match 1

Canada needs to win the last two matches of the three match serie to retain the Auty Cups after a disappointing loss to a new-look USA side on Tuesday. Debutant Roy Silva took four wickets and made an unbeaten 38 as the USA won by 5 wickets.

After a delayed start due to a damp outfield, USA won the toss and chose to bowl. Adhihetty was caught behind for 1 in the second over, but Kumar and Wijeyratne took the score to 43 before Wijeyratne was also caught behind for 29. Kumar followed shortly afterwards for 9- again caught behind, all three wickets falling to Hutchinson; 49/3 from 12 overs. Wickets continued to fall as the middle order could not handle the medium pace bowling of Roy Silva (4/32 in 10 overs). Canada slumped to 78/8 before Dhindsa (24) and Saad Bin Zafar (23) put together a ninth wicket partnership of 49. Canada were bowled out for a modest 141. The USA won by 5 wickets with 10 overs left. Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday.
