York Memorial “doubles” as Toronto Girls Indoor Champions

So it was premature to have declared York Memorial Collegiate Institute as champions of the 2017-2018 Toronto District School Board High School Girls Senior indoor cricket competition a few days ago. But York Memorial has now taken the City title following a win against David and Mary Thomson on Thursday (April 19, 2018).

Inza top-scored with 17 of David and Mary Thomson’s 27/2 from 6 overs in the City final before an unbroken opening stand of 28 from 2.overs swept York Memorial to victory. Jumainah Pathan lead with 15* while partner Kushhboo Rana made 6* for York Memorial.

Boys High School Indoor Cricket

Meanwhile indoor boys cricket is ticking along in western parts of the City of Toronto. York Memorial heads the standings with 4 wins and 1 loss but George Harvey has won all 3 games to date and poses a distinct threat to York Memorial and the other five competing teams. West Humber CI and Martingrove CI each has 2 wins and 2 losses, North Albion CI has 1 win and 2 losses, Kipling CI has lost 2 games and North Albion “B” foots the standings with 3 losses.

The top four from these “western” schools will advance to semi-finals on April 26 with the winners meeting on April 27 to decide the western final. The Toronto Senior Boys High School City championship playoff is scheduled for Agincourt CI on May 1, 2018.
