Canada lose to Guyana

Canada lost to Guyana in the West Indies Regional 50 over match today. Batting first they made 205/6, with Nitish Kumar top-scoring with 51. Nikhil Dutta took three wickets, but Guyana took 39 overs to record a 4 wicket win.

Canada won the toss and chose to bat. Gunasekera and Dhaliwal made a steady start, putting on 38 before Dhaliwal was caught for 20. Kumar joined Gunasekera and they brought up the 50 in the 16th over. Gunasekara had struggled to rotate the strike – he made 34 before being bowled but took 79 deliveries. Adhihetty lasted just three balls, but Kumar was batting well and advanced to a good half-century. Thaker made 15 before he was caught behind- 127/4 with 15 overs to go. Kumar was caught shortly afterwards. After Heyliger was bowled, Dutta (29) and Jacobs (34*) put together a partnership of 62 that took Canada past 200.
Guyana also made a steady start- they lost their first wicket to a run out, after a mix-up, and Heyliger bowled Rutherford- 46/2 in the 11th over. Canada turned to spin with some success, Dutta taking two wickets as Guyana fell to 96/4 after 20 overs. Raymon Reifer (61*) and Anthony Bramble (44) took the game away from Canada, and despite losing another two wickets eventually won with 11 overs to spare.
