“Caveat emptor!” says TDCA about team purchases

Someone recently asked if the 2019 schedules for the Toronto and District Cricket Association (TDCA) has been published. The latest news on TDCA facebook is about buying cricket balls for the upcoming season (April 25, 2019). Presumably there is a Captain’s Table on the way to confirm schedules, but for some the bigger question may be whether a TDCA Annual General Meeting is on the near horizon?

Meanwhile some teams and a place or two in a T20 league were reported to be available in the TDCA earlier part of this year. The TDCA, quite correctly, advices caution to those interested in buying a team “verify if the team you are buying actually belongs to the seller and you can do the transaction with the seller”.

No idea if the availability window has now closed on the two previously disclosed opportunities on TDCA facebook. But here are the two previously advised TDCA opportunities and the “caveat emptor” (buyer beware) warning.

“January 23, 2019: An Elite team, a Premier and a 1st Div team available for sale. Please email admin@tdca.ca for more details.”

“February 17, 2019: If you are buying a team, please make sure to e-mail TDCA to verify if the team you are buying actually belongs to the seller and you can do the transaction with the seller. TDCA does not take any responsibility If you buy the team and later on realise that the team wasn’t even there.”

“March 10, 2019: Couple spots available for T20 league. email admin@tdca.ca if interested.”

So caveat emptor if you are thinking of purchasing a club or creating a team for the T20 league as the 2019 season approaches in the Greater Toronto Area.

In the bigger picture, best wishes to all for the 2019 outdoor summer cricket season, which will already have started in some parts of Canada.
