Soggy Start for GTA Outdoor Cricket

It’s a touch cold and damp in western Toronto this May 11, 2019 Saturday morning but the sun is shining as I write (around 7am). Games are scheduled in some Greater Toronto Area cricket leagues to open the 2019 outdoor season but prospects of play may not be too good. There have been advance notices of game cancellations from the Toronto District Cricket Association at Toronto’s Eglinton Flats, G. Ross Lord Park and Sunnybrook Park (advised on Thursday) and a Friday advisory tells how all City of Mississauga grounds will be closed this weekend due to wet weather.
The TDCA Premier, 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions were due to begin this weekend. The Elite Division and T20 competitions are due to commence next weekend (May 18) and the Super9 is to begin on June 1, 2019.
Some games are scheduled for Brampton-Etobicoke & District Cricket League’s morning T25 over competition. The Brampton Cricket League has some T35 and T20 games on this weekend’s schedule and the Lakeshore Cricket League’s Summer season has some games slated for this weekend.
So stay alert for any notices, warnings and/or messages about possible game cancellations but, above all, enjoy the season. (EN)
