2019 Anglican Church Cricket Festival in Brampton

The Creditview/Sandalwood Sports Centre in Brampton, Ontario is the venue for the 2019 Anglican Diocese of Toronto cricket festival on Saturday (June 15, 2019). Teams from ten parishes are due to participate while special guests include Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and York-Credit Valley Area Bishop Jenny Andison.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 9am. Play is due to begin at 9.30am. The ten teams have been divided into two groups of five. The top team from each group after the round-robin phase will meet in the championship match.
Group A comprises teams representing Trinity Streetsville and St Thomas a Beckett, both in Mississauga; Holy Family, Brampton, St Bede’s, Toronto and St Margaret-in-the-Pines, Scarborough.
Group B comprises teams from St Francis of Assisi, Meadowvale and St Peter’s Erindale, both in Mississauga, plus three parishes in Brampton: St Jude Bramalea North, St James the Apostle and St Joseph of Nazareth, each in Brampton.
Brampton was recently named as host city for the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament, following the successful inaugural event in 2018. Some cricket ground development plans, including floodlights for the ground at Teramoto Park, were announced during the launch of the Chartered Institute of Managment Accountants (CIMA) Mayor’s 2019 schools cricket championships at the Brampton Soccer Centre.
The notices during last Sunday morning’s service at Trinity Streetsville included an invitation for members of the congregation to participate in the team. Trinity placed second in 2018 behind St Peter’s, Erindale. It rained last year but hopes and prayers are, doubtless, being said for the rain to hold off after a downpour on Thursday (June 13).
