Cricket fans across Ontario had something to cheer about as the first-ever Premier’s Cricket Cup was held in Mississauga. Premier Doug Ford was at the Family Cricket Day at the Mavis Cricket Ground at the Courtney Park Sports Fields in Mississauga to announce the launch of this new tournament for under-19 cricketers.
“Cricket is growing in popularity in our province, and I am very proud to have the opportunity to support this great game,” said Premier Ford. “Ever since my time on Toronto City Council, I have always championed cricket as a great way to get outdoors in the summer. The Premier’s Cricket Cup will give young players representing regions right across the province the opportunity to compete, show off their skills and make new friends.”
