President takes to Facebook

CC President Ranjit Saini posted a video to Facebook on his personal account, stating that he’ll make an announcement on July 1st at 10:30am EST, where he promises on his 10th anniversary with Cricket Canada he will reveal a “shift in his life” going forwards.
Facebook page.
Commentator Devesh Shankar speculates the announcement is either a re-worked international tournament, or his retirement. Saini has been under pressure following the poor performance of the mens and womens national teams, but the return of the Global T20 is a positive move. We will find out on Monday…
Update: the promised announcement took 30 minutes or so, included some personal history with cricket in Canada, but ultimately came down to a commitment to stay involved in Canadian cricket. He indicated he had contemplated retiring if the Senior team had qualified in the spring, but now feels there is much to do and will remain involved in Canadian cricket. He stated that his tenure as president is dependent on the will of the membership, but he believes he has the ability to lead from the front. He also indicated a change in style, and that he will speak his mind more often
