Three Games to Go in Men’s Canadian College Cricket Championships

The weather was, at times, distinctly miserable in the King City area on Friday (6 September 2019) but the last two series of round-robin games were completed as were the quarter-finals after delays due to rain, drizzle. Each of the quarter finals was reduced to a maximum of 7 overs per innings rather than 20.
Saturday’s semi-final match-ups see Carleton University take on Algonquin College at 8.30am followed by Humber College against Wilfrid Laurier University at 11.45am. The fifth Canadian College Cricket Final is scheduled to start at 3.30pm.
Friday began with University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) being bowled out for 42 runs after 9.1 overs and St Clair College cantering to victory with 43 for 1 wicket from 5.5 overs. Ryerson University had a setback as after reaching 125/8 from 15 overs, the Nova Scotia XI struck 126/6 for a first win with 5 balls to spare.
In the closing series of round-robin matches, Canadian College of Business, Science and Technology (CCBST) hit 124/8 from 15 overs then had Waterloo University struggling at 42/7 from 8 overs when rain prevented any more play. CCBST won by 40 runs under the D/L system. Wilfrid Laurier pumped 238/3 from 18 overs and contained Lakehead College to 145/7 from 16 overs for a D/L win by 67 runs when rain stopped play. Carleton University scored 164/6 from 18 overs and beat University of Toronto Scarborough campus by 72 runs under the D/L system. U of T Scarborough was on 74/6 after 10 overs when the covers were pulled over the wicket.

CCBST 67/7 (7 overs) lost to Humber College 69/2 (5.4 overs) by 8 wickets
