Toronto & District Junior Playoffs Conclude

The 2019 Toronto and District Cricket Association’s Junior Mens Playoffs concluded on Saturday (7 September 2019) when Quasar Under-16s beat United Cricket Academy Under-16s by 41 runs. One of the semi-finals in the TDCA Under-16 championship was postponed during the Labour Day Holiday weekend. The original slot for the Under-16 Final on the Labour Day Holiday was used for the second semi-final and the Final was re-scheduled for 7 September.
Aarth Kuyeska top-scored for Qasra U16s with 21 and four others reached double figures, including captain Sheel Patel with 19*, in a total of 110 runs for the loss of 6 wickets after 20 overs. United U16s Moosa Butt took 2 wickets for 17 runs from 4 overs. Only two United batsmen reached double figures in a total of 69 all out after 16.1 overs. Qasra captain Sheel Patel picked up 3 wickets for 5 runs in the closing stages from 2.1 overs.
Australasia and Centurions Share Under-18 Championship
The Under-18 Championship was shared by Australasia Cricket Club U18s and Centurions U18s following a tied final on Holiday Monday (2 September) at Ross Lord Park, Toronto. Ravi Sandhu top-scored with 17 in Australasia U18s 78 all out from 20 overs. Number 3 batsman Harman Bedi struck 27 runs from 47 balls for Centurions U18s. The last three fell to run outs and Centurions innings also ended on 78 all out from 20 overs.
United Cricket Academy Win Under-14 Championship
United Cricket Academy Under-14s scored 82 for 9 from 20 overs and beat Qasra Under-14s by 8 runs in the championship final on the Labour Day Holiday (2 September). United U14s Jehan Hammad scored 15 before being bowled by Dev Patel, who took 3 wickets for 12 runs from 3 overs. Moosa Butt with 12 runs was the only other United batter to reach double figures in a total of 82/9 from 20 overs. Aarth Kuyeskar, batting at number 5, stroked a run-a-ball 29 after opening bat Aarav Kuyeskar made 11.
In the end a difference of 10 runs conceded as wides by Qasra U16s made a difference as United U16s won by 8 runs, although United did give up 4 runs in no-balls. Qasra U16s gave away 24 in wides. United gave up a total of 18 in wides (14) and no-balls (4).
Australasia U12 Openers Clinch Championship Victory
Australasia Under-12s opening batsmen Yuvraj Samra and Nirav Dhaliwal shared a stand of 84 runs to capture the 2019 TDCA Under-12 championship against Ontario Cricket Academy Under-12s on Labour Day Monday (2 September). Dharm Patel scored 18* and Jaskirat Bains 13 in OCA U12s 83/6 from 20 overs. Australasia’s coaches may have had concerns about the 44 runs conceded in wides but the opening batsmen brought home the title so, at least in the short term, the day had a happy ending for the team.
