The playoffs in the York Region Athletic Association Varsity Boys Tier 1 Cricket championship are scheduled for Wednesday (16 October 2019) at McCowan Reservior, Markham, Ontario. Round-robin leaders Father McGivney Catholic Academy (CA) are paired with fourth-placed Bur Oak Secondary School (SS) in one semi-final, with second-placed Maple High School (HS) meeting third-placed Bill Hoggarth SS in the other semi-final. Play in the semi-finals is due to commence at 11am. The Final follows at 1.30pm.
Father McGivney topped the standings with 5 wins from 5 games, inflicting the only loss of the season on defending champions Maple HS (4 wins, 1 loss). Three schools finished the round- robin phase with 3 wins and 3 losses. Last year’s losing finalists, Middlefield Collegiate Institute missed out on a play-off spot based on net run rate to Bill Hoggarth SS and Bur Oak SS.
Two round-robin games were not played on 3rd October due to wet conditions: Father McGivney v Bill Crothers SS ( Won 0, Lost 5) and Maple v Huron Heights SS (Won 1, Lost 4).
