Women cricketers make history in Newfoundland

A team from the Cricket NL women’s programme made history on Saturday, playing their first competitive match in the 13 team Indoor tapeball tournament. As far as is known, this is the first competitive match played by female cricketers in the province, despite a history of cricket going back to 1824. They had a challenging introduction, playing the Newfoundland Super Kings, the outdoor league champions, but performed respectably in a loss, making 55/5 from their 8 overs.
