The semi-finals of the two divisions in the special 2020 Maple Leaf Cricket Club T20 are scheduled for this morning (Sunday, September 27, 2020) with the Finals to follow in the afternoon.
The Elite Division semi-finals will see Victoria Park CC take on Ontario Cricket Academy and Yashi Sports Elite play Centurions. Victoria Park beat Victoria Park A by 29 runs in Saturday’s “family gathering” quarterfinal while Ontario Cricket Academy beat Ahmadiyya. Centurions beat MS Boys whilst Yashi Sports Elite beat Toronto CC’s A team.
Centurions posted 220/4 from 20 overs against MS Boys who lost their way after a promising opening stand of 91 from 8.2 overs. MS Boys lost opener Naeem Iqbal for 43, his partner Pragash Podiratnam then fell for 43 and the innings dissolved to 109/8 before Younis Shafiq struck most of his 46* in a losing cause. Centurions opener Aaditya Varadajan top-scored with 86 and took 3/20 from his 4 overs. Srimantha Wijeyeratne hit 49 of the opening stand of 79 while Naresh Budheyer scored 40 in Centurions second wicket stand that carried the total to 141.
Scoring information was rather thin overnight about the other quarter-finals of the MLCC T20 Elite division.
The semi-finals in the MLCC T20 Premier Division will see Mississauga Dolphins-Superasia play Cricket Club of Canada while Cardinal Sports Academy will take on Yashi Sports. Cardinal Sports struck 162/5 (20 overs) then bowled out Farhan Memorial for 93 and won by 69 runs. Yashi Sports made 223/5 (20 overs) which proved sufficient against Toronto Rebels reply of 161/9 (20 overs).
