July 2021 Cricket Ontario Women’s Trials Seek Participants from East & Central Parts;
Silence about Players from Northern and Western Ontario Areas
Cricket Ontario has recently announced that trials for an Ontario East and Central women’s team are to be held at Centennial Park, Etobicoke on July 19 and 20, 2021 subject to whatever COVID-19 provisions may come into force at the federal, Ontario provincial and local Ontario Public Health Area levels of government. Potential player participants are required to register online via the Cricket Ontario website on or before Saturday 17 July, 2021.
Following these trials a squad to represent East and Central Ontario is to be named for a national womens T20 tournament to be hosted in the Toronto area in mid-August 2021. The national womens T20 event would, of course, be subject to whatever COVID-19 restrictions apply across a broader base of potentially participating provinces and public health areas in August 2021.
Perhaps there will be trials for an Ontario north and west squad at somewhere like Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins or Thunder Bay at some future date? So interested people might need to keep their eyes open for such opportunities. There was a park with well maintained baseball outfields in Timmins when I paid a visit in late October/early November not many years ago that could, potentially, be used for a cricket practice. I cannot remember what sportsfields, if any, I saw on a more recent flying visit to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario that was similarly based around November 1st.
