Woburn Collegiate Institute took the Eastern Region championship and then beat Kipling CI to win the Senior section of the Toronto Mayor’s cricket championship. Smithfield Middle School won the Junior section of the Western Region and then took the Mayor’s championship with a win over Valley Park Middle School.
Aashin Patel (Woburn CI) was named Player of the Tournament in the Senior championship, as well as being selected for the Mayor’s UK Tour squad. Akeel Cheema took the Western Region Senior batsman award, thanks to innings of 36 and 14, whilst Mark Mahibir (Sir Winston Churchill CI) gained the honours for batting in the Eastern Region with contributions of 43 and 20. Talha Shaikh (George Harvey CI) won the Western Region bowling hounours, as well as being named to the UK Tour squad.
Ahmer Wasif (Smithfield MS) won the Player of the Tournament in the Junior Section, as well as the Western Region best bowler award. Karan Patel (Smithfield MS) was named best batsman of the Championship tournament.
This was the first time that CIMA had been named as a partner in the Toronto Schools Cricket Championships. It was the first time the outdoor school cricket competitions have been named as the Toronto Mayor’s Championship.
