Manitoba Cricket Association Kanga Cricket Jamboree

The annual Kanga Cricket Jamboree is scheduled for today (Saturday June 9th) at Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg, hosted by the Manitoba Crieket Association (MCA). It provides the chance for youngsters of all ages to come together to play and watch Kanga Cricket, which uses a plastic bat and ball. The event has been taking place for a number of years and I paid a visit to the June 2008 event, as well as taking in some MCA league cricket on the Sunday.
This outdoor event also gives a chance for some of the school kids who play indoor cricket during the winter to step outside and play the game in the open air. Best wishes to all those involved in the MCA Kanga Jamboree, which gained publicity in the Winnipeg Free Press in the sporting events of the day and afterwards the results and standings also appeared in that newspaper. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the MCA might gain some more publicity in the local newspaper, if not on local TV.
