Intercity T20 action at Victoria Park, Edmonton today

Two T20 Inter City games between the Edmonton & District Cricket League and the Calgary and District Cricket League are scheduled for Victoria Park, Edmonton today, Sunday July 29th, 2012. The first game is due to start at 11am and the second at 3pm (1500 hrs) after a one hour break for lunch in-between these matches.

The games will be played in accordance with ICC regulations and Cricket Alberta Playing Rules with certain additions, as included on the Seniors Inter City Schedule released by Cricket Alberta for the Edmonton Leg of this weekend’s Inter-City action. There was, in fact, a 50 over match on Saturday at Victoria Park, where a grass wicket was installed in recent years to help the development of cricket in Edmonton, and in Alberta.

The Edmonton Squad for this weekend’s Inter City games had been published on July 25th. Halim Shah was named coach of the following squad of players: Yasoob Haq, Satjit Gill, Tyson Gordon, Zain Ahmed, Nafiz Choudhary, Dhrupad Shah, Waheed Noorie, Abdullah Raheem, Sagith Karunaratne, Khawar Abbasi, Wardhan Haq, Nishi Hota and Salman Choudhary.

Four players were listed as reserves for the Edmonton squad : Sohail Fida, Ankit Karwal, Goldie Sekhon and Pragnesh Patel.

So, best wishes to all involved in today’s game and hopefully some spectators might be attracted to Victoria Park, Edmonton, to see the game. Perhaps some passing strangers to cricket might fall by the wayside and become interested in the game, which would be a small step on the expansion of cricket in Edmonton, Alberta and Canada.
