Elite clubs bowl over crowds at Mississauga’s first Cricket Fest (Mississauga News)

Cricket is one of fastest growing sports in Canada. That becomes clear once you enter Mississauga, home to the Ontario Cricket Development Organization, one of Canada’s largest clubs. This week, the OCDO hosted the inaugural Mississauga Cricket Festival, a two-day event that concluded Friday night at the Courtney Park Cricket Grounds.
“Our whole idea with this event is to showcase cricket in Mississauga,” said festival organizer Derek Perera. “We want to showcase the youth who are playing because we have possibly the biggest youth program in Canada with 180 players registered and growing. One of the other important things is that we wanted to showcase a high level of cricket.”
