Canada beats USA

CC-ONLINE-MATCH-REPORTCanada maintained their unbeaten record at the Americas T20 with a 6 wicket win over USA. Cecil Pervez kept the US to a modest total, thanks to some stunning “death” bowling that saw five wickets fall in the last eight balls, and Gunasekera led the reply with a half century.

Although there is much cricket left to play (Canada plays each team twice), the win means that securing one of the two qualification spots will be near-certain.
The U.S. won the toss and batted. Canada were poor in the field, missing a number of catches and run out opportunities, but still managed to restrict the U.S to a modest 127. Dutta, Pervez and Junaid Siddiqui all bowled well. Wickets fell rapidly when the U.S. tried to hit out at the end of the innings, five falling from the last seven balls.
Cheema got the reply off to a quick start, hitting 20 all in boundaries before being caught, 30/1 after four overs. Gunasekera kept up the momentum with three boundaries off the next over, and the fifty came up in 7 overs. He and Nitish Kumar took the score past 100, but the US had a glimmer of hope when both fell along with Dhaliwal Canada going from 104-1 to 107/4. Hansra saw Canada home for a comfortable win, however with 9 balls to spare.
