The president and coach of Rising Star Cricket Academy of Excellence brought several members of his team to Sharon Saturday, in an effort to spread the love of the game into northern York Region. He fully admits the sport is having a difficult time getting established in many areas of Canada — but he hopes that can change one community at a time.

“We live in a very diverse community,” he said, as his team warmed up at Sharon Hills Park in East Gwillimbury, during the Ranji Singh Foundation’s Caribbean & South Asian Showcase’s two-day softball cricket and family fun event.
