ChangeCricket is the brainchild of two cricket fans turned journalists, Sam Collins from England and Jarrod Kimber from Australia, who set out to document what they perceived to be the impending death of Test cricket in the face of the explosive interest of the Twenty20 format – especially in India, the sport’s biggest market.
What they found was a power play in early 2014 from the three most powerful countries in the sport – Australia, England and India – to control not only the game itself but a little over half of ICC revenues.
This inspired them to want to #ChangeCricket.
Sam and Jarrod’s film, Death of a Gentleman, explores what drives people to love the game; talks to players and journalists about what’s at stake; and introduces you to the money men who run the game as if it belongs to them, rather than all of us.
