U19s lose to Afghanistan

After two losses to test-playing nations the U19s took on an associate in their third match and must have had hopes of a first win. Those hopes were in tatters after 5 overs, when Canada were reduced to 13/3. Abraash Khan (33) and Arslan Khan (38) staged a recovery and Canada managed to bat for 50 overs- but slowly, totalling just 147. The Afghans got off to a flying start and despite losing 6 wickets needed only 24.1 overs to reach the target. Miraj Patel led the bowlers with three wickets.
Canada thus finish bottom of Group B and will play in the 9th place play-offs on February 5. They will face Zimbabwe who lost in highly controversial circumstances to the West Indies.
