July 13: Scotland win ICC Trophy (CricInfo)
Ryan Watson guided Scotland to their first ICC Trophy title after a commanding batting display, a miserly bowling performance and, to top it all, two crucial catches that broke Irish hope and heart. [Scorecard | more]

July 11: Canada clinch 3rd place
Canada got off to a good start as Bermuda fell to 4/2 after 5 overs after choosing to bat. Romaine led a recovery, making an excellent 71, but Canada again looked good in the field. Two run-outs, and some good bowling restricted Bermuda to 195 all out from 48.5 overs. Thuraisingam had the superb figures of 9.5-3-16-2, and was well supported by Sandher (2/34) and Maxwell (2/60). Davison also bowled economically (9-3-19-1).

Bermuda removed the Canadian skipper for 5 when Canada started their reply, but Chumney (44) and Surkari (47) put on 94 for the 2nd wicket. Both fell with the score on 105, but Ian Billcliff, Canada's most consistent batsmen of the tournament guided them home with 44*.

Canada will be delighted with a 3rd place finish, the same position as 2001. Now comes some hard work and preparation for the World Cup! [Scorecard]

July 9: John Davison on the Ireland match (ICC)
"To be honest I don't think we deserved to be in the final. I don't think we've really played as well as we are capable of playing so it's good that we've done as well as we've done." "There are some good young players coming through so I think the future looks good." "The tournament isn't over for us. We've got one more game to go against Bermuda and we really want to win that as it will decide which World Cup group we will be in." July 9: Canada lose Ireland in semi-final (ICC)
Peter Gillespie and Andrew White hit Ireland to victory in a tense ICC Trophy semi-final against Canada at Clontarf. With the run-rate mounting, Gillespie struck a six and a four from consecutive deliveries in the 48th over before White completed the win with a six from the second ball of the final over. July 7: Canada World Cup bound
Canada nailed down its spot at the 2007 World Cup by rolling over Papua-New Guinea by 160 runs here today while Scotland demolished defending champions the Netherlands by 98 runs in Belfast. Put into bat on an easy-paced track and fast outfield, the Canadian top order made hay while the sun occasionally peeped out from behind clouds pregant with rain. Ian Bilcliff (102 not out), John Davison (62), Desmond Chumney (50), Zubin Surkari (45) and Suniil Dhaniram (26) all dined out right royally on the sumptuous fare offered ever so optimistically by the PNG bowlers. July 5: Canada closer to World Cup berth
EGLINTON, Northern Ireland: Canada moved a step closer to a berth in the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean after pipping defending champions the Netherlands by two wickets with just one ball to spare in a do-or-die rain-shortened 35-overs game. The 2001 third pace finishers now must beat bottom-of-the-barrel Papua-New Guinea in their final first round game on Thursday while hoping that favourites Scotland defeat the Dutchmen. That way Canada automatically qualifies as one of the top four. [Full report | Scorecard]

July 5: Canada eyes return to cricket World Cup (CBC Sports)

July 4: Canada beat Oman by 2 wickets
It was a rare sunny, hot day in this green, bucolic setting deep in what was once the heart of Irish linen country. But Canada managed to make heavy weather of an underrated Oman and barely lived to tell another tale in the ICC Trophy with a nail-biting two-wicket win.[Full report |Scorecard] It took a desperate eighth-wicket stand of 43 between ice-cool Ian Billcliff (33 not out) and veteran campaigner George Codrington (18) to save the day after Oman's top-heavy batting order had raced to 119-1 before you could locate this tiny Middle East oil kingdom on a map. July 2: Canada lose to Scotland in the ICC trophy
Scotland, losers to Canada in the 2001 ICC Trophy third place playoffs, showed how much they have improved with a comprehensive seven wicket win over Canada on a chilly, windy but no more challenging day than one in late September at King City. But it wasn't as clearcut a win as it looks on paper. Scottish hearts were in their mouths after Canada's newly-minted opening bowler Don Maxwell produced two prodigious outswingers to remove two batsmen with the first two deliveries of their innings... July 1: Canada takes giant step to 2007 World Cup (Canadacricket.com)
BELFAST: The back of a Belfast pub, fingering a pint of the local brew, may be as appropriate a place as any to celebrate Canada Day, especially after Canada's cricket team fashioned a nail biting two-run win over co-favourities Namibia on the opening day of the ICC Trophy here at Woodvale. Racing in from the midwicket boundary veteran allrounder George Codrington pulled off a stunning two-handed tumbling catch to seal the victory after Namibia had met the challenge of Canada's surprising 284 all out and their last pair needed only three runs off nine balls. [Special report]

July 1: 2 run victory over Namibia in Canada Day thiller

Canada's task however is simple- they must at minimum win three games"... [more]

June 29: Rain robs Canada of win over Denmark

Now, however, he has the ICC Trophy in his sights as coach of the Dutch national team. He says: "Ireland have got a good draw and they're a good side.
