Report just out that Sri Lanka players are stampeding to
USA to play for ACE and qualify for "Team USA". Supposed to
be offered good $$$. Wonder how many know what's the
capital of Vermont.
See USACricket's just hired an Aussie organization to develop
entry level cricket program for states. More big $$$ for USA cricket...
lets hope we'll get something worthwhile out of it.
2022 will the the 150th anniversary of MCC's first ever overseas tour to USA/Canada in 1872, a team that included W.G. Grace. Are North American cricket authorities planning any kind of commemoration? Could probably get MCC involved. 2009 passed with no 150th commemoration of England's first oversea...
Big break for Canada. With the old pathway would have had to play a whole slew of
matches, lots of travel, over couple of years. "Team USA" and Canada, of course, will be the two who'll
advance. Critical question will be which of the two qualifying groups they'll end up in.
All very good questions. But CC has had (supposedly) a school/youth program for years. Everyone's in the dark
on how that's going, so its doubtful anyone will hear on any other program.
Surprise! Surprise! ICC Women's Americas Qualifier will be hosted by...(drum roll) USA!!! :o Only four teams in this regional qualifier by far the fewest (Africa has 11!). And only one team from each qualifies. Teams a lot better than USA (shoe-ins given the pathetic state of Canuck women's cricket)...
Peter Della Penna says on Twitter ACE recruiting a whole slew of
South Africans. Looks like "Team USA" will become "Team U[nwanted] S[outh] A[fricans]"
in three years.
