Re: development

Actions not words. In fairness, CC did provide a substantial number of practice matches last fall between Nepal and a Canadian development side. So there are some early examples of "actions". However, the new development structures need to be focused on building player pipelines to move players fro...

Re: development

Seems Cricket Canada are putting in place new development structure for the men, women, U19 men and the new U19 women programs. An overview was on CC Facebook but should really be on the main website, as well. National championships, training camps, 'A' teams - the things that have been needed for a...

Re: Canada Namibia T20

Concerning that Canadian bowling was so ineffective in the final T20I. Only one biggish score from the batsmen, too. Even allowing for Canada's experimentation, it was not an encouraging outing in a larger tour that leaves many questions. The team is still looking for new talent to eventually replac...

Re: Canada Namibia T20

Not good that Canada chose to bat and this was the result. The captain has failed to perform in the matches that count. He has to improve.

Bad result but at least it was a set data points for the selectors to use in their future squad choices. The rained-out matches hurt.

Re: Canada Namibia T20

Really disappointing that so much of the tour to Zimbabwe and Namibia has been rain-affected. Opportunities to see how players perform in competitive situations have been lost.

Re: Canada Namibia T20

^ And that is an improvement for Canada from the ease in which they were defeated by Namibia in the 2023 Qualifier Playoff. Samra continues his run of good games. Johnson did not have a good day with bat or ball. Akhil Kumar was the pick of the bowlers. We'll have to see whether he can do this on a ...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

USA team was largely American-born (mostly Californians, it seems) and young. Canadian side mostly in their 30s and born overseas, I would think. Another way the American program is well ahead.

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

Their opening win notwithstanding, Canada are still a ways behind the USA. There is hope for a reduction in the gap between the nations as Canada's program matures and perhaps more resources are put behind the Canadian women. CC still has to do a lot to grow the game. The added visibility from the O...

Re: Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

Canada elects to go with a extra bowler in 2nd encounter with Nambia. It pays off initially as the hosts are restricted to 186. Unfortunately, Canada then lacks the batting to chase a reduced total. An opportunity lost to put themselves near the top and compound Namibia's poor start to 2025. Canada ...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

^ Brazil seem to have stagnated with a very limited player pool while teams like Canada have found better players than 4 years ago.

In the end, I doubt NRR would have favoured Canada. It will still require a second win over the Americans.
