Re: Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

Those were some high-scoring games in HK. It ended on a down note but Canada can't be too displeased with the start to their international season given the circumstances However, things are about to get much tougher as the team heads to Nepal for 3 ODIs according to Nepal cricket sites. The itinerar...

Re: Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

^ Exactly. In the past Canada wasn't able (and probably didn't try hard enough) to give opportunities to young/new talent. It's pleasing to see new players getting what should be multiple chances to contribute.

Nice that the match was available online. Hope the Nepal tour will also be streamed.

Re: Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

Canada off on a month-and-a-half tour to Hong Kong and Nepal (not yet announced) prior to their debut in the League 2 competition (hosted by UAE) in March (also not announced). The ICC seems reluctant to provide details of the first round of League 2. Nevertheless, It will be a great chance for Cana...

Re: development

^^ I'm wondering whether there is additional money for development that comes with playing in CWC League 2. Obviously, the ICC provides money for central contracts and covers travel/accommodation for League 2 and perhaps the head coach's salary (?). But is there anything additional for new developme...

Re: Cricket Canada announcements and news

Cricket Canada FB has announced journalist Vivek Jacob in a role where he will be creating content regarding the national teams, programs, etcetera. This should be a positive step, providing fans with more information albeit filtered through CC's lens. It seems this would be a part-time effort for M...

Re: Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

Cricket Canada has announced their touring party for Hong Kong, Nepal and likely the kickoff of their League 2 campaign in UAE. The surprising omission is Kaleem Sana, who had good success in 2023. New inclusions are: Ajayveer Hundal 18yrs, former Canada U19 (British Columbia) Ishwarjot Sohi 29yrs (...

Re: Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

Nepal board have released their 2024 schedule! https://nitter.net/pic/orig/media%2FGC_sTpdWEAARgTE.jpg It includes a proposed bilateral ODI series (for Nepal and Nepal A) against Canada in Nepal in February - this would be helpful preparation for both teams prior to their respective League 2 commitm...

Re: Canadian overseas pros

^ You're right. Canadians don't seem to be getting the opportunities to play T20 and T10 abroad they were a few years ago. It is probably due to perceived better talent being available from Test nations (Zim, Afg, Ire) and League 2 (UAE, Nam, Nep, USA). That may change as Canada re-joins the top tie...

Re: ICC/Int'l cricket news/discussion

The United Arab Emirates U19s are again showing well in a competition featuring Full Members. This time it's the 2023 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and the Emirates have beaten their Sri Lankan and Pakistani counterparts on the way to the final. UAE is not a perfect analogue for Canadian cricket but is more...
