baseball everywhere...cricket nowhere

ESPN reposts England star batter Harry Brooks has signed on to become
MLB's Europe Ambassador. Will have a MLB logo on his cricket bat! They've
also signed England women's player Issy Wong for the same. And cricket?
What are THEY doing to promote their game in North America? :x :x :x

great new cricket book

Finally got my copy of Tom Melville's new book, This Too Was America: Philadelphia's Era of Cricket. (McFarland). Terrific work! Well written, incredibly well researched, full of original insights, powerful and persuasive. It's very "academic," highly analytic with lots of footnotes which will proba...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

In a podcast this Shaun Martyn guy who runs Fairbreak says they're going to invite
women from Canada, Mexico, etc. to play in their USA gig this September.
Anything from CC about this? Also says they're going to hold their
gig in the USA for the next three years.

Re: Canada @ 2023 ICC Americas U19 Qualifier

Old boy, cricket's always been on shaky ground in Caymans and Surinam, certainly at the U-19 level. My guess is there's just not enough cricket interest in the Caymans to put up a team. Look at Bermuda. They've never even been able to field a women's team! Only one country will advance from the qual...

Re: no Olympics cricket

Cricinfo says these reports are false; that cricket's still
in the running. Decision by October.

no Olympics cricket

Reports circulating the IOC has made the decision NOT
to include cricket in the 2028 LA Olympics. Will
see if this is confirmed.

Re: Canada @ 2023 Qualifier Playoff

Namibia has now bumped "Team USA" out of the top three in CWC.
UAB could possibly (but highly unlikely) leapfrog Namibia so the
pre-qualifier should be pretty much set. Can only see UAB causing
"Team USA" and Canucks any problems taking the top two places.

Re: Canada @ 2022 Challenge League A (3rd round)

"This is what the Associates wanted--more matches."

Yeah, but against the same old bunch of teams over and over. No matches
against better quality teams--Netherlands, Ireland, 'Ghanies, Zimbos, etc.--until the Qualifier...
if they make it that far. :( :x

Re: Canada @ 2022 Challenge League A (3rd round)

No, "Team USA" and Canucks should be heavy favorites. May come down to how that pre-Qualifier is arranged; a single tournament or home/away matches for all teams. ICC just making everyone jump through more hoops. Any team from the World League that advances will have played over 40 matches just to r...
