Cricket is only played by a small ETHNIC group of Canadians. As such, it will NEVER be
internationally competitive, NEVER get major media attention, NEVER get sponsors or significant
government support, NEVER attract competent management. Better learn to live with all that.

Re: ICC favorite son/daughter (yet again)
"recruit athletes from baseball and softball" Something I've been advocating FOOOOOR YEARS! But now ask yourself: WHO'S gonna do that? Who has any confidence Sanai or any of the CC twiddly-dees can sell cricket to top women softball players? :( "get cricket in schools" Well, how often have we been h...

Re: ICC favorite son/daughter (yet again)
Peter Della Penna, in his recent article on Dreamcricket, rips into USA women's team, excoriating the failures of USA administrators in developing the game, all of which is old news to anyone who's been observing the game in the states (and Canada, for that matter). But he left out a major factor in...

Thai women brush aside "Team USA" in warm up match, 124-4 to 66-7.
Things are deeply, deeply, flawed with North American women's cricket

Re: ICC favorite son/daughter (yet again)
Peter Della Penna, in his scathing review on Dreamcricket of "Team USA" players says "it has never been easy for other players from outside the South Asian or West Indies communities to adjust to life in the USA team." That pretty much sums it up perfectly how the expat community is holding back cri...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket
Interesting Emerging Cricket article on how Thai women's cricket has made such impressive advances. They started recruiting players from softball (I assume that's American softball and not softball cricket). Then the national body made a commitment to native players, away from expat players. They pl...

2021 WC is a repackage of the Champions Trophy. Won't give the ICC International XI much
time to scrounge around for more mercenaries.

Re: ICC favorite son/daughter (yet again)
Shocker! ICC International XI OUT... don't even get to the T20 WC Qualifier! All the money! All the scrounging! All the coaching! And the T20 WC was the one tourney where they had at least a realistic chance to qualify with 16 teams. ICC bet the farm on "Team USA". They've done NOTHING else for cric...

Re: WT20 Qualifier
Not really a big game against USA. Beat CI and Bermuda twice and they're through. Of course, weather can upset those plans. Surely, they should make up abandoned games on days off! With two teams qualifying should be a walkover for ICC International XI...Oops! I mean "Team USA" ;) ;) ...and Canada....

Re: Cricket in the 2028 Olympics (Los Angeles)?
The host country team AUTOMATICALLY gets in. Before anything, gotta persuade organizers to even let cricket
into their games (host organizers have a lot of discretion here). If they don't want it, NO cricket for anyone!
