Re: Americas A Qualifier

I'm not sure what you're getting at, Timmy. Where are you getting your numbers? The ICC says there will be: " Six teams from the ICC World T20 2016 which are not in the Top 10 MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings as at 31/12/2008 will automatically qualify for the ICC World T20 Qualifier, alongside the ...

Re: Global T20 Canada

Interesting revelations regarding Ranjit Saini's T20 vision from the Caribbean Graphic article: http://caribbeangraphic.ca/global-t20-will-make-canada-a-cricket-country-says-ranjit-saini/ . I don't know that the single franchise (Toronto) model would work in the long term but the full league venture...

Re: Global T20 Canada

^ According to the Faraz Sarwat article (linked in the 3rd post above) one of the CC directors mentioned a draft was supposed to be held, in Dubai of all places. No information has been forthcoming since and time is ticking. The Global T20 is to be discussed at a Cricket Canada special General Meeti...

Re: Associate 50 ov & First Class competitions 2019-2023

Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong demoted to WCL2 for 2019. UAE and Nepal that squeaked by Canada (on net run rate and a last ball victory) in February take their places as ODI nations.

Re: Associate 50 ov & First Class competitions 2019-2023

I wouldn't mind seeing the Intercontinental Cup scrapped in favour of more 50 over matches or a new T20 Associate competition. First Class cricket has no bearing on how the ICC funds Associates (and is of limited use for preparing Associates for the competitions that do determine funding), and is no...

Associate competitions

Some clarity from the ICC coming out of the World Cup Qualifier regarding the next competition cycle for Associates: https://www.icc-cricket.com/media-releases/638841 Although PNG are the first side to be out of the Super Six race, there is plenty at stake for them in the remaining matches as they w...

Re: Caribbean Premier League (and Americas Associates)

Yes, you're right. It was one thing to help the Americans play catch-up after years of ICC inaction during the Dainty administration's tenure. However, it has gotten out of hand. At some point Cricket Canada, the Bermuda Cricket Board and the rest of the Americas boards have make some noise in prote...

Re: ICC favorite son/daughter (yet again)

The ICC just seem to be spending money on showy things like tours, not on the extremely difficult task of increasing the numbers of women playing the game. The US will probably have to look to some schoolgirl sides to find Aussies at their level. They could have stayed much closer to home and played...
