Re: Global T20 Canada 2020

IPL "postponed". If the biggest T20 franchise tournament can be brought down, I imagine this will cause the GT20 organizers great concern for their Malaysia venture. Unless the Canadian and overseas players can be vaccinated against COVID-19 very soon, a late June start is still a high-risk proposit...

Re: Canada @ 2020 Challenge League A (2nd round)

Yet more changes to the 2nd round of Challenge League 'A' as described on CanadaCricket.com. Now it is to return to Malaysia for the end of 2021 with the 3rd and final round slated for Canada in 2022. This certainly offers the participating teams more time to get their players vaccinated and ready f...

Re: Global T20 Canada 2020

Sooo ... GT20 Malaysia :D for 2021. Probably playing abroad the was the only option. The franchise owners must have been worried about sitting out another year. Well, at least there's spots allocated for 6 Canadians. We'll see how many must be in the XI. Still some concerns for travel, quarantining,...

Re: CC 2021 schedule

Great news about moving toward inclusion of the women's and youth teams. This would seem an ideal opportunity to build an U23 program as a bridge between the U19s and seniors. Cricket Canada and USA Cricket are delighted to announce joint plans for the return of the annual Auty Cup ... Hopefully, th...

Re: CC 2021 schedule

I don't have access to the Toronto Star but this article appears to show July 26-30 one-day matches following the Americas T20 Qualifier: https://www.thestar.com/sports/2021/03/09/canada-and-us-to-resume-cricket-rivalry-this-summer-for-the-auty-cup.html A great chance to assemble and prepare for the...

Re: CC looking for help (again)

So Cricket Canada have the funding to upgrade the national coaching position? I'm not sure it's worth the effort and upset to change the coach yet again unless we are sure we can do better. Either that or the new CC board and Amarinder Bhinder really can't work together. I share Victorian's concern ...

Re: Canadian overseas pros

Kumar finishes his tournament for Leeward Islands with a 29 in the 5th place match against a Barbados squad not fielding the disappointing Mr Kirton. Overall Nitish can be pleased with his Super-50. He showed he was not out of place playing with and against West Indies pros - top scorer in the round...

Re: Canadian overseas pros

Kumar scores 5 against Guyana and 24 versus T&T. Leeward Islands playing Jamaica needing a win and some help to advance to the semi-finals. There seems to be a 5th place match so Nitish may get in another innings regardless of the outcome. Have to wonder whether a good showing down the stretch earns...

Re: Canadian overseas pros

Nitish Kumar gets a contract with Leeward Islands of the Cricket West Indies Super50. He was in the squad for his side's first match and is doing well so far. Hopefully it is enough to keep him in the squad for the next match. Edit: Kumar topscores for Leward Is. (century) in his first match. I thin...

Re: CC 2021 schedule

Interesting. "CC Cricket Festival/Auty Cup", which of course implies a visit by the US.
The GT20 returns in it's late June spot. Lots of time to prepare for hosting the critical 2nd Challenge Cup series.
So a big year for cricket in Canada with a big asterisk next to much of it.
