Re: Inverhaugh Cricket Club

Sad to see the end of an era but many congratulations on the outstanding work and success of the last 2.5 decades. No one else could have done it. Great memories of playing there, with its unrivalled setting and hospitality. Best of luck in your next projects.

Re: Global T20 Canada

The world has moved on lightyears in 10 years. Ten years ago, televised cricket was much harder to find in North America, or even on the internet. The IPL was a baby. The whole world wasn't glued to screens in the palms of their hands every minute. To understand what's going on, it's important to un...

Re: Global T20 Canada

Reports of around 700 people today...for two games! This is beyond nightmares for ticket sales.

Re: Global T20 Canada

In terms of a spectacle, a very good game to start. Clearly, the organisers have worked very hard on logistics and deserve great credit for that. A bit of rough around the edges is understandable with such a rushed set up (bizarre that they 'were planning this for 5 years', but waited for the last 5...

Multiple players stuck overseas without visas: https://www.thenational.ae/sport/cricket/uae-cricketers-in-race-against-time-to-reach-canada-for-inaugural-global-t20-1.744112 Have heard it's the same with the Pakistani players. Don't know if Boom Boom got through. Sohail Tanvir made it. Don't know ab...

Re: Global T20 Canada

I think we have to be realistic and look at other models around the world. If this tournament manages to run its 22 games, it will be a logisitical achievement - a miracle in such a short time - but likely a financial disaster that will not see a repeat. Even first class cricket, and list A cricket,...

Re: Global T20 Canada

They’d have to sell more than 13,500 tickets per game for 22 games to break even, with a max capacity of 7,000. The economics of this are very silly. If the sun shines, they might get 10,000 on the holiday weekend, and maybe 7,000 for the final. But it won’t be enough. If you put $7million dollars i...

Re: Global T20 Canada

It could be like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where 5 golden tickets have been hidden inside 5 copies of Wisden Cricket Monthly. Do you think the million-dollar prize will be for one of those lucky spectators? ‘Congratulations! I hand over this tournament and its debts to you, young Timmy!’

Re: Global T20 Canada

Fantastic! They fly out tomorrow for a 2-week holiday before the start. I do hope work visas have been arranged (in record time), and that they'll be helping sell tickets and TV rights. If you want to buy a franchise, how much does it cost? Asking for a friend..
