Re: T20 WC 2024

The penultimate match day has been abandoned due to a tropical storm. Whether the all-important Canada/Bermuda encounter takes place as scheduled on October 7th is up in the air. There are no reserve days. If the final matches cannot take place, Bermuda will take the tournament and the berth in the ...

Re: T20 WC 2024

A massive win for Canada in their 2nd encounter with Caymans should push Canada ahead of Bermuda on NRR. So a victory in their final match by any margin ought to be enough to secure the Americas berth in the T20 World Cup. I'm not ready to concede that Bermuda is the favourite to win but they do hav...

Re: T20 WC 2024

A very poor start for Canada who are blitzed by Bermuda in their opening match. It leaves Canada in need of nothing less than 4 wins and a large deficit in net run rate to make up prior to their rematch with host Bermuda.

Canada @ 2024-6 CWC League 2

This article seems like as good a reason as any to start a thread for Canada's League 2 campaign : https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/corporations-considering-canadian-cricket-1.1964703 It mentions the national team (14 members) as receiving "salaries that average about $55,000 to $65,000" on contract for ...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

Canada's women not far off the level of the States. Continuing to develop talent and expanding the player pool are what is required to stay in touch. Another issue is Canada's lack of international competition. Had it not been for the Americas T20 qualifier, it is unlikely Canada would have player a...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

The difference between Canada and Brazil was that Canada was able to find more cricket talent. This will likely continue as CC now start to take the women's game more seriously and starts to emphasize development. Brazilian female cricket is largely this national team. I expect there are few other p...

Re: T20 WC 2024

^ I would hope there will be a short training camp in Toronto before flying to Bermuda. However, for the bulk of September, the US's Minor League Cricket will have to serve as preparation for the majority of the team. It might even be a better level of preparation than Canada has had for previous T2...

Re: Canadian Women's cricket

^ Well said! Its nice that international cricket (well known to be conservative) has taken an inclusive stance on the subject but it will eventually have to bend to certain realities to preserve the spirit of competition in the women's game. Sport and society are still coming to grips with "transiti...
