Is Kumar going to run out of partners? I don't think Nigeria will score 100.

Good to see Tariq have a good knock. Also, of course, Kumar.

Canada 159/7

Well below par score for Canada. But yes, it should be enough.

Good win. Could have been better, but a win is a win.
Few things I noted, although they may or may not matter.
Canada has the fastest attack in the tournament with couple of guys bowling over 140s. Even Ireland and Scots struggle to do that.
Canada has probably the best bowling attack at well. Good pace bowlers, a mystery spinner, a very good left arm spinner, a decent off spinner and a couple of very effective slow medium (Cheema and Nav)
Canada also seems to have batsman that can be called proper batsman with technique. Nitesh, Wijeratne and Dhaliwal.
Canada has some of the biggest hitters in the tournament in Thomas, Cheema and Singh and they have done it against better attacks!
Probably has the cleanest keeper as well.
Now what remains is a very small matter of performing on the field :D :D
Just keeping everyones spirits high!!

Canada end on 156/5 against Ireland.
From 124/1 after 15ov, a mere 32 from the last five is an opportunity lost. Credit to the Irish bowlers for reeling Canada back in.

A third great performance by Nitish and an impressive top score from Dhaliwal could go for naught if there is not an equally strong bowling effort. If Canada can take early wickets, Ireland's middle order is vulnerable.

EDIT: Canada hold their nerve for big win! Ireland 146/7 in 20.
Well done, team. After the painful losses over the past couple of years, it was important to complete an important win against a Test nation, no less.

Both Group A & B wide open. With Hong Kong and UAE missing players Canada have to take advantage. It would be another big step to qualification.

Excellent win boys..proud of the effort. This was no easy, one man show kind of win. This was a well fought out win. Everything that I had mentioned in my last post about Canadian talent came true. Nitesh, Navneet, Nikhil, Gordon, Heylinger, Hamza..all contributed.
I remembered the words of Lalchand Rajput, Winnepeg's coach at GT20, that Canadian cricket will benefit like Indians did with IPL. I firmly believe, that extra bit of belief has come only from GT20. Hope it runs for a number of years. If it does, Canadian cricket will be back in the top 12-14 countries.
Need to keep focus and not let slip. I am sure the team will remembers missed opportunities in the last 2 years. I am sure they will do well. Now they should focus on finishing first. UAE, Oman and HK are beatable, although nothing is easy.

Hmm..not a good performance. Especially with ball. Not want to sound too critical, but one single defeat has the potential for huge alarm bells. It seems with all their talent, Singh and Thomas cannot adjust to these slow wickets. Maybe better to have Wijeratne.
One other thing, which has been a theme for lastv2 years..fail at the absolutely crucial time. Even when facing a weaker team. This match today could have put Canada a firm fav for top spot and direct qualification. And we had a weak HK team to beat. It seems either the temperament is lacking or players are getting complacent. Cannot be a coincidence that you lose important matches almost all the time. Need a very strong headed coach to drill that killer instinct. Talent is there.

^ True. Hong Kong would have been one of the teams to target for a win yet we haven't responded today. It wasn't even close.
I hoped Canada were turning a corner with the Ireland win but they are not there yet.
Dhaliwal and Singh needed to be big contributors for Canada's success in this tournament. Dhaliwal has had one strong game so far. It will take more.

Quick turn-around needed for a tough Oman team tomorrow or it's do or die again against UAE. We have a poor recent history with those ...

It seems to me that there have been several upsets at this tournament and it must be because of lack of consistency and lack of depth. If a couple of top guys don't take it all the team loses. As for Canada, the Ireland win was terrific, but Jersey and Nigeria are weak teams so beating them was necessary but also perhaps a bit misleading. Also, getting a century on debut is great, but it was against Cayman Is. not Pakistan, if you see what I mean. Anyway, I'm backing the guys to bounce back!
