The Canadian bowling was again unable to restrict an opponent with South Africa putting up a huge total. The required run rate was always going to be too much. Kumar and Calitz were the stand-out performers on the day in a 150 run loss.

Canada's 3rd pool match against Afghanistan is abandoned. Fortunately, the consolation round awaits, though after finishing last in their group they will likely face a test nation first off.

Canada out of competition for Plate (9th place) following loss to Zimbabwe. Early signs of hope were crushed as Zimbabwe recovered in the last 15 overs to post 271 total. The Canadian bats weren't up to the formidable chase required.

Some most welcomed mainstream News Media coverage of Canada's loss to Zimbabwe at the 2020 U19 World Cup. Hopefully Team Canada will win its next match to provide some more positive coverage!

^ Good to see. Hope the coverage continues for 2nd round of Challenge League and GT20.

Canada get their first win of the tournament over Japan. Nicholas Monahar with the century and Akhil Kumar adding 6 to his already large wicket total.

Despite being soundly beaten, Japan gave Canada more of a match than Bermuda, Caymans and Argentina at the Americas qualifier. Our region's Associates aren't very competitive. Not playing in the West Indies U19 as in years past hurt Canada's preparation.

Canada cricket and Japanese cricket: two completely different development strategies.

Japan has some expats but are committed to bringing the game to mainstream Japanese.
They'll take their lumps doing this (maybe for a long while) but its a strategy that can only
move the game forward.

Canada? Committed solely to expats. Game will remain stuck in mediocrity in perpetuity.

Canada finishes their tournament on a satisfying note, reversing their pool stage failure against UAE to capture 13th place. The Canadian bowling pegged back their opponents to a very make-able 195. But it took a crucial 7th wicket stand to rescue the match from a precarious position.

Canada ended well but overall could not get the batting or wickets needed for a better showing. Akhil Kumar stood out for his 16 dismissals but this could not overcome the team's failure to restrict the opposition's score. The Zimbabwe match was just such a case. On the other hand, batting was supposed to be a strength for this side but this did not show in the important matches. The coaches will have to go back and reconsider what could be done better.

One positive was the number of Canadian born and raised players in this team. It is a sign of progress for Canadian cricket's grassroots.
