Meanwhile in Alberta

A petition on change.org.

Alberta's 4 votes in the elections are at stake here, which is why there's a vested interest in propping up the ACA on a quid pro pro basis rather than taking a sensible look at resolving this ridiculous situation where half of Albert'a cricketers are outside of the national body.

This is part of what continues to hold Canada back. Clinging to power is more important than reform. If bylaws were breached I hope the responsible provincial/federal authorities can untangle the mess.

Further this update from the Alberta Cricket Council (ACC): http://www.canadacricket.com/?p=13223, it seems ACC is vying with Cricket Alberta (formerly Alberta Cricket Association) to be the provincial representative for Cricket Canada.

From their website CA claims to represent:
-Edmonton & District Cricket League
-something called "Cricket Calgary Community"
-a number of city-based cricket organizations (Grand Prairie, Fort McMurray, Airdrie, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Okotoks)

From their Facebook page ACC claims to represent:
-Calgary & District Cricket League
It is not clear whether other leagues have joined.

The result of the arbitration process could shift the balance of power among the provincial members for future Cricket Canada elections.

Alberta Cricket Council's side of the story recapped again and an update on the matter:

The situation is of interest beyond Alberta because of the implications for the leadership of Cricket Canada. The provincial body, Alberta Cricket Association apparently continues to wield 4 votes despite losing two of its members.

By now CC was required by the arbitrator to hire an independent investigator. The investigator will interview all the parties and deliver a report to the arbitrator.

In this interview with the newly elected board, one new member expressed the need to resolve disputes and stop wasting money on them.

Seems like a clear reference to Alberta. Hopefully, this issue is concluded swiftly to the satisfaction of the vast majority of members in that province.

Something’s happened but I don’t know what.

Yeah, it sounded from the AGM Reports that the new body, Alberta Cricket Council had lost the arbitration case to become the ruling body of Alberta cricket - and that they are appealing. That seems a strange one given ACC's confidence and the arbitrator's letters they had published.

You're right, not much being said -likely because of the appeal. Alberta still a house divided.

A decision with the ACC vs CC case with ACA as affected party awarded ACA as the member however ACC is appealing and the case is still with SDRCC.
Edit:
Okay, hold the phone. ACC is posting a completely different interpretation of the results. They are declaring victory and posting supposed excerpts from the arbitrator's ruling. I haven't looked too closely but here it is:

So what really happened :) ?

A Calgary team won the BC Big Bash. There was an Edmonton team as well I believe. Hamza Tariq captained the winners. One team had several Canada players on it.

Long running saga seems to be concluded with Alberta Cricket Council being awarded PSO status by Cricket Canada.

Will there be a reduction in the political shenanigans going forward? Fingers crossed...
