GT20 Canada makes the list of tournaments flagged by the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations for pay issues:

Global T20 Canada
Bangladesh Premier League
Abu Dhabi T10
Qatar T10
Euro T20 Slam
Masters Champions League

Of course, GT20 and Euro T20 Slam are owned by Bombay Sports.

Bet your bottom dollar Major League Cricket will, sooner of later, be the next one on
this list. Shady Indian businessmen: the BANE of associate cricket.

I believe that the Bombay co. people haven't lived up to the development promises either.

You have to wonder, was this entrepreneur aware of GT20 and would he have been interested in investing? There are probably others like him in Canada. The tournament has not done enough to promote itself domestically and will miss out on these potential investors.

If he follows cricket, he must have known about GT20. Investing in the LPL was probably an investment decision by a shark. I figure that most expat cricket fans (I realize this fellow was born in Canada) don't follow the Canada team or local leagues or Associate tournaments.

Sooo ... GT20 Malaysia :D for 2021. Probably playing abroad the was the only option. The franchise owners must have been worried about sitting out another year. Well, at least there's spots allocated for 6 Canadians. We'll see how many must be in the XI. Still some concerns for travel, quarantining, etcetera.

Wonder whether this might be a better time zone for overseas viewers. Chance to pull in new sponsors.

IPL "postponed". If the biggest T20 franchise tournament can be brought down, I imagine this will cause the GT20 organizers great concern for their Malaysia venture. Unless the Canadian and overseas players can be vaccinated against COVID-19 very soon, a late June start is still a high-risk proposition.

Malaysia is entering a very strict lockdown. How can you have a cricket tournament and international visitors etc?

^ That development would just about pull the plug for GT20 2021 :( . I hope there is still the will from the organizers and owners for 2022.
