So the ICC gives these mini-minnow South American women's teams their own tourney
but not one for the North American teams?!?!?! Or does Bermuda, Caymans not have women's teams?

See USA Cricket has just included two Barbados banana boaters, Hayden Walsh &
Aaron Jones on "Team USA" for upcoming D3 tourney. Why doesn't the ICC
just chuck all qualifications standards and put anyone they want on "Team USA". ;) ;) ;)

Report says ICC will now be holding a women's WC qualifier in all 5 regions
with each regional winner advancing.
Does that mean no more free passes for "Team USA"?

Well, ICC/USACricket gloating over progress "Team USA" is making. And with four of the D2 teams
advancing, pretty good chance they'll be gloating even more after April. In the meantime, the game languishes and stagnates
domestically. We're seeing a carbon copy of the old Dainty administration: all resources go to the national
teams and NO ONE else. NOTHING to promote the game to mainstream Americans, NOTHING for the thousands of
grass roots players. EVERYTHING for those forty odd that make up the "national team." :(

USACricket now searching for CEO. Job description says the person
will also hire support staff. So along with picking up his salary ICC
going to pay his staff support. Will CC demand the same? Or will they
just sit back and watch the ICC continue to write out fat checks to USA cricket and
throw a few crumbs to the north?

Recent article by Peter Della Penna says ICC been spending $2-2.5 MILLION ANNUALLY on
USA cricket during its suspension! USA team will reportedly make three tours leading
up to the Namibia tourney: to Windies, UAE, South Africa. Canada and other associates better
understand they'll not only be playing against "team USA" but the ICC as well! ;) ;) ;)

The Associates are too scared about ICC reprisals to say anything? Or have they been told the ICC will ignore their concerns?

It certainly won't take much for USA to surpass Canada's U19 and Women's teams for the single Americas berths in those respective regional qualifiers. Canada should be concerned.

Canada isn't ignored by the ICC- Cricket Canada's main operating funds come from the ICC and are I believe close to $800-$900,000 per year- well short of the funds being pumped into the USA of course, and it is hard to determine why the USA merits 2-3 times the funds that Canada receives. $900,000 sounds like a lot but when it represents 80-90% of total revenue, and participation of the senior team in a WCL event likely costs $100,000 plus, there's not a lot of spare cash floating around. Cricket Canada needs to move closer towards a self-sustaining funding model, and find sources outside the ICC to really develop cricket here- the Mercuri-Global T20 deal was a major step in that direction.

"hard to determine" why USA deserves several times more cash than any other AA?
Actually, pretty easy: ICC still Dreaming The Dream of bringing the world's largest,
wealthiest, sports market into the game. :P Sadly, ICC has been hopelessly lost in the woods chasing
this dream.

Well, as I predicted, this Americas qualifier was just a formality for
"Team USA". ICC expected Canucks to just show up and lose and they
followed script. Guess that $2 million a year from ICC paying off for
Yanks big time!. ICC's made it clear they want Yanks as top Americas associate
and it's mission accomplished. Canucks down and ICC will
make sure they stay down. I'm gonna make a bold prediction: I don't
think ICC will EVER completely turn over control of "Team USA" to
the national organization, whoever it is. "Team USA" will continue to
be a ward of the ICC in perpetuity. So every team that plays against
"Team USA" better know they're playing against a team favored by
ICC. Happy thought! :( :( :(
