5th match: Canada vs USA https://cricclubs.com/InternationalScor ... ubId=11707
Canada 85/4 20 ov
USA 77/7 20 ov

USA being pushed hard for the 1st time this tournament.
Canada with a much improved all-round performance pull off an unlikely victory against the Americans. I would predict CC Facebook will make some noise about this big win after the fact. The women deserved their victory. It does not somehow mean the program is suddenly in good shape.

A terrific win by Canada. USA’s last game is against Argentina however. There is hope for the Brazil game.

6th match: Canada vs Brazil https://cricclubs.com/InternationalScor ... ubId=11707
Brazil: 48/7 17 ov
Canada: 47 all out 17 ov

5 Canadian wicket fall in the final over. Pressure ...

Both teams struggled mightily with the bat. Brazil have reason for optimism after finishing 2nd. Canada, despite an inspiring win over their arch rivals have to wonder how relative newcomers to the game twice beat women who have played cricket most of their lives. The women's program (and the men) will be looking the Cricket Canada for better support or they will continue to fall behind.

Astonishing final over, but the damage was done by the upper order bats. Canada really only have two bats of decent quality, and after they went early looking for a quick win to improve net run rate, the middle order again failed to execute basics.

Still Canada at least has played some international cricket- I never expected them to qualify, and hopefully some lessons can be learned from the excellent development effort in Brazil, which has taken a group of athletes without a cricket background and turned them into as good a team (or better team) than Canada. Our women need to play internationally, we need a serious recruitment effort, and need to ignite grass-roots development - let's not provide financial support to provinces who don't have a reasonable women's development programme for instance...

And although the results may be disappointing there's no questioning the effort and commitment put in by the women who were part of the team that competed .

Over to you Cricket Canada!

"Over [AND OUT!] to Cricket Canada."

Will anything change? NOPE! This "Women's Manager" will continue to collect
his paycheck and do NOTHING meaningful (what did CC do after the last America's
Qualifiers)? Just watch! :x :x
