It could mean a modified qualification if ICC want the Americans to play in their own World Cup. West Indies are not necessarily a lock for qualification, either. They may need some "help" with qualifier changes.

Most events are co-hosted. This must be for several reasons - development in smaller countries, more teams means needing more facilities, spreading out the costs...An ODI WC is being co-hosted by SA, Namibia and Zim but it might be that only SA is guaranteed to qualify so maybe the USA won't automatically qualify although the ICC will surely do back flips to make sure that they do. A problem I see is that, being a WC, most cricket fans in the USA might keep half an eye on the USA team while they last, but really care about their favourite big team. What time of day are games going to be scheduled? CC HAS to capitalize on this as well. warm up games, tri-series. Actually, such things might fall in their lap, which is good.

The press release says 18 matches will be held in the USA (none in Canada!) in five venues "approved
by the ICC." Where are these five venues? Right now there's just Lauderhill. Are they going to build
four ICC approved cricket stadia in two years?

Yeah, there's gonna be a problem with "host" USA. Twenty teams will "qualify" for the WC but with
only 55 matches there's gonna be another one of these "qualifying" pre-WC tournaments and "Team USA"
won't qualify. Then what? ICC counting on big boost in USA but national team not even playing? Look
for "Team USA" to get a free pass so we have the pleasure of seeing "America" slaughtered by India,
OZ, et.

Actually, it seems from 2024 onwards will have 20 teams so West Indies would likely be safe to qualify, but it would not be a surprise to see the ICC grant the hosts byes to the World Cup. Will they dispense with the "first round" in 2024 and go with 4 groups of 5 teams? Possible. Even with 20 teams (8 Associates or more), I'm not hopeful Canada would make the cut. :(

The last few T20 World Cups have been staged in March/April or in September/October. The last one in the West Indies was early May. That type of scheduling would not be helpful to Cricket Canada in playing a warm-up series in Canada. At best we would be begging ICC/West Indies to play some warm-ups in the Caribbean.

Houston and North Carolina? Indianapolis? These places would at least be warm enough.

Houston, North Carolina, Indianapolis??? These are just bare cricket grounds, NOT
stadia. NONE have stands, lights, scoreboards, changing facilities, etc., to say nothing
of meeting ICC standards.
Like I said, someone's gonna have to come up MUCHO $$$
and work MUCHO FAST to have those five first class venues in two years.

The situation for 2024 is looking a lot better for Canada.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_ICC_ ... _World_Cup

With 20 teams playing, an automatic host spot for the USA and apparently no global qualifiers (i.e. 1 Americas qualifier) Canada has a good chance of making the final tournament. In fact, it would be a massive wasted opportunity and perhaps missed revenue if they fail to take the Americas berth.

Thereafter, with the USA's advantaged position, Canada may never get a sniff of T20 success so this is bigger incentive to take advantage. Bermuda is the only team that could upset them. Canada has to prepare a squad and play T20s to be ready.

Does "Team USA" have to play in the America's Qualifier even if they've already qualified?
If not, Canucks only have to beat Bermuda.
