Soooo...any report on the condition of the grounds? That area's still getting hammered by
rain. Should clear up by Wednesday but will the grounds be flooded? Roads
closed? As usual, have heard NOTHING from ICC, USACricket, CC.

Peter Della Penna (can we just call him PDP ?) in Morrisville, NC as the pitch is being examined. Looks very wet but no standing water except at the boundary.

Some information from someone! The tournament starts Thursday. We can sorta guess Canada's schedule.

Canada plays the USA on Sat. and Tues. IMO, Canada and the USA should have been the first game. That way, Panama or Belize would have won and been in 1st or 2nd place after one day...more interesting. I think Canada and the USA will be easily 1-2 after two days.

Still a bit surprised that Panama and Belize are playing this sub-regional qualifier while teams like Suriname and Bahamas are left out. How did the Panamanians and Belizeans get their berths? Qualification?

I so totally agree. It should be based on merit but that would require a Div. 2 tournament. There have been situations elsewhere also with these sub-qualifiers with big mismatches.

I say we can chalk up the seeding discrepancy to the ICC's continued obsession
with getting "team USA" to WC. Clearly, either USA or Canada should have been in the
first qualifier rather than Caymans/Bermuda. Under the present format USA will now get two
chances to knock off their only competitor; in this round AND the next round as well.

BTW, Panama 65-8 in their 20 vs "team USA". As I said, this round is just a formality.

"Team USA" 67-0 in 5.2 overs, wins by 10w. Weeeeell...ICC has to say they're at least giving
the mini-minnows a chance.

Belize: 42 all out (14.3 ov)
Canada: 43 (3 ov)

Not sure what this does for either side. Neither is this a good look for cricket as it tries to enter the American sports consciousness.
Hopefully PDP will ask/answer the question of how Panama and Belize come to be in this qualifier.

Caymans, Bermuda, Argentina were in the other qualifier, clearly a
distorted competitive arrangement. USA/Canada should have been in
each of these qualifiers separately. Also, what happened to Bahamas, Surinam, who were
in past qualifiers?
