So, it seems Ranjit Saini backed out of the race for CC President. Rashpal Bajwa is the new leader. Will this lead to a new direction for CC? Bajwa takes over an organization in better financial shape (due to GT20) than before but with many unresolved issues, such as dealing with the AB dispute.
Hope the new guy will make himself available for interviews.

This adds more more credence to the transparency promised by the new board.

Annual General Meeting: June 26, 2021
https://cricketcanada.org/news-single?nid=161

Highlights:
Intent to stream of open sessions
Approval of 2020 financial statement
Strategic Plan

I'm interested to eventually see the 2020 financials, learn what is/has happened with Cricket Alberta/Alberta Cricket Council dispute and see whether there are any more measurable goals laid out in the new strategic plan.

AGM in Halifax this weekend. Agenda includes approving a strategic plan. Also, likely at least one new board member. Hope?

Need an outsider with new ideas to run for President. The recent parade of provincial leaders stepping onto the national stage has not produced much in the way of results on or off the field.

Cricket Canada needs leadership that can either attract sponsorship or make the bold decisions to revamp its programs within existing finances. Canada must continue to run its national teams while creating new programs for the U23 men and for U19 women. There has been nothing on this front in 20 years and is a big part of our last decade of international failure.

The current president can go for all I care. He came in with the promise of better communication and has been as silent as his predecessors. He is a failure.

Hope the AGM can at least give us:
  • a status update on the 2022 Global T20 Canada
  • the 2022 international schedule
  • an update on the audited financial statements for the missing years 2020 and 2021

Won't happen, old boy! North American cricket's trapped in a vicious
cycle of failure. Old guard failures give way to more old guard failures.
What's needed is a business-world White Knight: a complete outsider
who's given full power to replace failed people, failed programs and
start from scratch. Old guard will never allow. :( :(

Rashpal Bajwa and Amjad Bajwa re-elected by acclamation. More of the same to come.
