Youngsters, Hundal and Samra understandably withdrawn for the ODIs against Nepal along with a few others. Kaleem Sana brought in. Still no Jeremy Gordon.

This will be a rare experience for Canada playing abroad before a large and raucous crowd.

Commentators keep repeating how young the Nepal side is. Two debutants.

Bhagwan might get written up for a send-off. The umpires appeared to have a word with him.

An acceptable result in a seven run loss to a very deep team in Nepal for the first ODI. Some of the Canadians have only a single competitive match thus far in 2024. Disappointing to not get over the line but they need to learn their lessons now.

Hoping for Dhaliwal to return to the form where he was Canada's best bat in the first two rounds of the Challenge League. If Canada are to be competitive in League 2, more will be needed from the likes of him. At least Kirton is off to a good start in the new year. If he and Pargat Singh can find some level of consistency, Canada can post good totals.

I checked in the middle of the night- they needed 35 off 69 with five wickets in hand and they didn’t make it?!

I looked for ODI rankings and don’t see Canada on the list. That doesn’t make any sense. How can an ODI team not be in the rankings even if their numbers are zero and they’re ranked last? The rankings calculations are very complex of course so we need to see an official list.

^ Wondering whether there is a minimum number of ODIs played in recent years before a team can be ranked. Looking at the July 2019 ICC ODI rankings, shortly after USA and Namibia gained (or regained) ODI status, those two countries are not shown. Netherlands (6 ranking ODIs), Nepal (8) and Papua New Guinea (9) are on the list. Following today's match Canada has only 6 ODIs played. The current series with Nepal may push Canada onto the ranking ladder.
