Auty Cup

I just read Peter Della Penna's Cricinfo article saying the Auty Cup will quite likely be held immediately after the Americas T20 sub-qualifier in Sept. and be a three game 50 over series for the USA to prepare for WCL. I had thought the Auty Cup would be heavy on T20 to prepare for the T20 tournament but probably Canada and the USA aren't too worried about Belize and Panama. The T20 venue might be in Raleigh, North Carolina. $5.2 million stadium???

A Peter Della Penna article for CricInfo has an update on the 2018 Auty Cup, saying the event is in danger of being cancelled due to lack of communication from Cricket Canada.
"According to a USA Cricket official, their attempts to lock in an agreement on match dates have been hampered by a lack of communication from Cricket Canada officials."

Have to hope the matter is cleared up soon so that the opportunity for international matches is not lost.

Edit: Might the change in dates for the Americas Northern Region T20 Qualifier (from early to late September) and the resulting concentration of cricket matches (T20 Qualifier, Auty Cup and CWI Super 50) be a problem for the Canadians?

Unfortunate that there will be no Auty Cup this year. It has often been some of the only international cricket for the two teams. However, with an unusual abundance of activity this year for Canada, perhaps it was too much for players who have to hold down their jobs as well.

With the tight scheduling between the Americas (North) Sub-Regional T20 qualifier (ending Sep. 26th) and the CWI Super50 (starting Oct 3rd), I don't blame Cricket Canada for taking a pass on the Auty Cup. After such an unusually busy year (WCL2, Global T20 Canada, CC CricketFest, Americas SR Qualifier, CWI Super 50), have to wonder how some players manage to get time away from work.

Seems like the same heavy schedule can be expected for 2019 so we'll have to hope knowing this in advance allows finding a window for the Auty Cup.

Auty Cup 2019?

While not officially "Auty Cup" at this stage, PDP is reporting the American and Canadian boards in discussions for Sept 8 & 10 50-over matches as preparation for the CWC League 2 and CWC Challenge League respectively.

This seems to be coming together at the last minute. In the future the two countries should plan to play each other at the 'A' or U23 levels and perhaps women's cricket.

Awesome! I've always thought/hoped that if the USA got stronger and more opportunities it would help Canada too.

Unfortunately, the U.S. vs Canada matches did not come to pass. We have to hope the team has had/will have some game situation practice prior to their first match.
