Good news and bad news with this new WC format. Good news: under the new format the 8 teams in the
new World League as well as the new Division 2 arrangement will be playing home-and-home series,
no more week long tourneys every six months. Have been advocating this for years, and years, and years. Now each
country will be hosting many bilateral international games. People will actually get to see their
national teams playing at home rather than reading about them playing on the other side of the world.
Bad news: this is a format for ODIs. Tests are going the way of the dinosaur and ODIs aren't far behind.
Never going to get mainstream North Americans to warm up to 6 hour cricket matches.
ICC has to adopt this, or similar, format for the T20 WC so the non-test countries
can get a chance to promote the game in their own countries.
