Emerging Cricket reporting that Davy Jacob is pulling out of the GT20.

Perhaps not surprising if Canadians can only earn a maximum of $7500 in their own tournament compared to other Associates. Fair enough.

Now more replacement players required: https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricket/st ... t20-canada

Canada's Jacobs will presumably be replaced by a Canadian. Do the 3 American drop-outs have to be replaced by other Americans or other Associate players from the region?

Edit:
UAE draftees to be withdrawn? https://twitter.com/BdJcricket/status/1 ... 2584425473
This is beginning to look bad on the Associates. Hope it will mean Canadian replacements for those dropping out (Bhavindu Adhihetty might be available). Wonder whether there will be consequences for the make up of teams for 2020.

Also, what preparation is Canada going to have for the global qualifier? National T20? A "cricket festival"?

Somebody mentioned TSN sports, and Star Sports and CBN. Ofcourse if you have IPTV, you will see it on some channel..

Apparently TSN2 will only broadcast the playoffs. I guess it's CBN on the television side for other matches. Would be nice to see something official.
Tariq, who will be playing for Winnipeg Hawks, last played in a game that was televised in Canada in 2011 and is looking forward to the tournament being on Canadian television, with TSN2 lined up to broadcast playoff games.

Site claims 4083 attendance first match. If this is what they get for
rest of matches will it pay the bills?

^ I think you already know the answer, Timmy :).
All the promotion is geared to overseas market, so that is where the money is (the organizers think).
I'm not even sure the official social media sites mentioned how the tournament could be watched in Canada. Oh well, Cricket Canada could not hope to tap into this kind of interest in Canada so we'll have to see whether they can make anything of the awareness created in the fans and sponsors.

Matches involving Yuvraj Singh might be well supported. Yet to be seen whether the other teams will draw a good crowd.
After a few matches are in the books we might get a feel for what is due to the @YUVSTRONG12 effect and what is due to the move to Brampton.

Encouraging crowd, by the way. A much better start than last year in King City.

Encouraging crowd considering it is geared only for overseas market and it was a Thursday afternoon. Will see when timmyj51 will see anything positive in through the tournament :D :D
Or would you rather not have this take place and we will be better off not exposing the sport to this generation??

I certainly wouldn't permit a tourney in my backyard that
serves notice it's not at all interested in "exposing the sport" to the mainstream populace.
If I'm gonna allow a sporting event here I'd REQUIRE that event to reach out to ALL Canadians...
not just a small ethnic minority. Apparently CC doesn't see it that way.
