Dreamcricket recently posted an interesting article on what it's
going to take for any T20 event to have a chance in the states.

Should we be worried that its almost April and still no official
announcement of Global T20 for 2019...nor any announcement of
2019 CPL matches in Lauderhill? :?: :?: :?:

I know an umpire who knows the nation wide schedule of things and he said the GT20 is happening again this year. I didn't press for more details.

A couple of positions being advertised on a Canadian sport resource site:

https://sirc.ca/careers/2019-02-6/direc ... ertainment
https://sirc.ca/careers/2019-02-6/direc ... ertainment

Start date is today (April 1st) so we should start to see the marketing gear-up in May.

Looking back at last year's GT20 thread (I'm glad we have this forum :D ), the sign-up for the draft was early May with the actual draft held early June. The 2019 tournament will be held later so things could be pushed back a bit to not conflict with Caribbean PL draft (May 22nd).

Well, as is the case with just about every cricket position in North America,
every things secretive. No announcement of who has the position? No
public announcement of promotion plans? The only question remains:
can they generate interest among mainstream Canucks?

With the confirmation that the Global T20 Canada owner is also behind the Euro T20 Slam, it will interesting to compare results for the two leagues.
Gobal T20 Canada:
  • All games at single venue (if same as 2018)
  • drawing audience from large metropolitan area
  • targeting expat fans
Euro T20 Slam:
  • 6Teams/6 Venues (Higher venue preparation, broadcast, accommodation and travel costs but no audience fatigue)
  • Generally smaller metropolitan areas
  • targeting all cricket fans (Netherlands might be most similar to Canada - a history in the sport but no established support outside cricket fraternity)

Um...I don't see that Times India article AT ALL "confirming" the
Canada Global T20 for 2019. It just says the guy who masterminded
the "success" [cough, cough!] of the Canada gig will now try his hand
in Europe.

The power-hitters from the West Indies such as Andre Russell and Chris Gayle are expected to compete in the second edition of Global T20 Canada league, scheduled to begin in July in Brampton, the organisers announced on Saturday.

"Brampton", I assume really means King City again.
