I can’t see interprovincial tournaments happening in early May.

Interesting. "CC Cricket Festival/Auty Cup", which of course implies a visit by the US.
The GT20 returns in it's late June spot. Lots of time to prepare for hosting the critical 2nd Challenge Cup series.
So a big year for cricket in Canada with a big asterisk next to much of it.

I don't have access to the Toronto Star but this article appears to show July 26-30 one-day matches following the Americas T20 Qualifier:

A great chance to assemble and prepare for the team that will play in the Challenge 'A' tournament.

Yep it’s true. It says a 50 over series. Also mentioned is discussions about women and youth fixtures.
I wonder if an announcement like this is a hint that the health authorities think it will be possible to host such series?

Great news about moving toward inclusion of the women's and youth teams. This would seem an ideal opportunity to build an U23 program as a bridge between the U19s and seniors.
Cricket Canada and USA Cricket are delighted to announce joint plans for the return of the annual Auty Cup ...
Hopefully, the use of the word "annual" was a deliberate choice and means a commitment by both boards toward the Auty Cup. They need to put in some effort to promote the competition and include women and youth as part of common strategy to make cricket more visible in North America. A sponsor would really help - I'm sure the ICC could help in that regard given their backing of the U.S.

"A sponsor would really help."

Pipedream! Any potential sponsor will ask: "You want me to back you? What audience can you deliver?"
And North American cricket has never been able to deliver anything except an ethnic subculture. Absolutely no
interest from sponsors who want to reach the mainstream market. :(

"I'm sure the ICC could help..."

How? Maybe they can right out more fat checks for "USA" cricket. :x

Not a surprise, but cricket news outlets are reporting the postponement of the Americas T20 Qualifier scheduled for Canada in late July. With it, the Auty Cup series likely goes as well. This leaves the Canadian men with no international cricket before the next leg of the Challenge League 'A' in Malaysia (if that goes ahead) at the end of the year. Canada's once promising 2021 is collapsing into another lost international season.

With the situation getting better in the United States, the T20 qualifiers could be moved there.

Here's a chance for CC and USACricket to show a little self-reliance. Why does
the Auty Cup have to be cancelled? They're playing cricket right and left in
Texas. Move it there. While they're at it, how about a USA-Canada U19 match,
or even women's match? Let's stop whining and show some initiative!

The Public Health Agency of Canada is continuing to advise travellers to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada, so for a national sports body to ignore this is difficult. If Canada did send a team down to the US, on return they would have to follow government requirements on return, which include
- Having a COVID-19 molecular test prior to returning to Canada.
- A 3-night stay at a government authorized accommodation on return to Canada (at a cost of $1500-$2000/ person)
- A 14 day isolation period at home

In addition, it is currently impossible for players to play, practice or train in Ontario, the location of the majority of the national squads.

Thus although it would be good to have competition between the US and Canada, in my personal opinion the situation would have to change significantly before this is practical. Hopefully as the vaccination roll-out continues and becomes effective, restrictions will be lifted, and perhaps by late summer international competition might resume.

Well, on what else is CC spending its money these days? At least this will have
been spent for the good of the game.
