If Canada are recalling players like Wijeyeratne (http://www.canadacricket.com/?p=12288) from useful overseas stints it is likely the Global T20 annual contracts will be offered very soon and that the successful players and will go into training for the 2019 WCL2. Also likely that Canada's team for that tournament would be almost entirely drawn from the contracted players. Mercuri are supporting Canada's push to be a top Associate nation.

Very compressed schedule; 6 games in 7 days (if you make the playoff stage).
CC, USACricket better be planning some warm up matches/tourneys or the teams
will be going into this not having played for almost six months.

^ Almost undoubtedly we'll see some warm-up tours for Canada/USA and probably the others as none of the participating countries have been active of late. Oman will be the first to remedy this situation (albeit in the T20 format), hosting Ireland, Scotland and the Dutch in February.

Regarding the WCL2 schedule, it's no more compressed than previous tournaments. It's 6 games in 8 days (including 2 rest/rain days) and really the last game is unimportant as all the significant placings will have been determined.
