- 27 January: A disappointing tournament for the Under-19s concluded with a loss to perhaps their weakest opponent, Uganda, leaving Canada without a win. Canada won the toss, and yet again the openers failed, the top three mustering 16 runs between them. the middle order this time however put on a respectable show with Trevin Bastiampillai making 40, Jethi a rapid 43, and Shaheed Keshvani 65. Keshvani batted through to the final over, anchoring Canada to a respectable total of 231. A win finally looked possible after Bhatti had taken a wicket in the first over, and Uganda were 39/2 after 12 overs had passed. A fine unbeaten 99 from Ondeko took Uganda to what turned out to be an easy victory (CricInfo scorecard - ICC Match reports).
- 25 February: Canada Under 19s went down to their 5th loss of the tournament, never threatening a strong Irish side. The Irish total of 265 was intimidating but the Canadian batting has not been up to the task in this tournament, and managed only 110 in reply.
The Irish upper order scored steadily, and accelerated well. The Canadian opening bowlers were treated with scant respect, with Soraine conceding 20 runs from his two overs, but the spinners slowed the scoring rate. Anjaria was the most economical conceding just 34 runs from his 10 overs, and Jethi and Keshvani both took two wickets. There were four run outs in the Irish innings, and their total was boosted by 30 extras.
Canada again failed to make a good start, with both openers dismissed with only 5 on the board. Abid Keshvani top-scored with 29, but the rest of Canada's top five managed only 6 runs between them. Canada have one last hope of a win, against Uganda, also winless on February 27th.

- 23 February: Canada took on hosts Bangladesh at Chittagong in their first Plate Match and perhaps not unexpectedly lost by 4 wickets. Canada's batting again got them off to a poor start, falling to 36/5 before two contrasting innings from Karun Jethi and Soham Anjaria took them to respectability. Jethi chose to attack, making 42 off just 26 balls, with 6 fours and a 6. Anjaria batted through 25 overs for his 27, being last out. The Bangladesh openers put on a rapid 57, and the match seemed over until an inspired spell by Shaheed Keshvani gave Canada hope. Keshvani took five wickets for just 29 runs in his 10 overs, earning man-of-the-match honours. He was well supported by Jethi who bowled his 10 overs for 35 runs, and Carto who had two catches and a stumping in the innings but Bangladesh ran out easy winners with 14 overs to spare (CricInfo scorecard - ICC match reports).

- 19 February: Canada lose to Zimbabwe by 8 wickets. Canada managed to make 107 more runs against a good Zimbabwe attack than the Australian Under19s but this proved to be not enough, as the Zimbabweans knocked off the runs for the loss of only two wickets. After losing an early wicket again, Aabid Keshvani (63) and Gavin Bastiampillai put on 70 in 19 overs. Keshvani put on another 64 with Trevin Bastiampillai and at one point Canada looked set for a big total at 135/2 from 35 overs. The middle order faltered as they tried to accelerate but Canada batted out their overs. Simon Upton made an early breakthrough, but Zimbabwe cruised to an easy win. Coach Franklin Dennis said
"If you drop catches, you lose matches. We need to score more runs and
improve our fielding. During the tournament, we played against countries that have
test-status. We are still learning but this experience will help us to
play better in the next ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup".

- 17 February: Canada lost their second match to a strong Sri Lanka team by 9 wickets; a disappointing batting performance saw the young Canadians muster just 81 from 31.1 overs, a total helped by 12 extras. The innings got off to a poor strart when Gavin Bastiampillai and Ryan Lall both fell for ducks in the first over. Keshvani (14) and Travis Bastiampillai (20) mounted a recovery. Anjaria batted over an hour for 15, and Bhatti contributed 14 but the rest of the batting had no answer to the Sri Lanka bowling, led by medium-pacer Kulasekara with 5/27. Bhatti had opener Tharanga lbw for just 7, but a half-century from Vithana took Sri Lanka to an easy victory.
Coach Franklyn Dennis is quoted as saying "It has nothing to do with the conditions here in Bangladesh which I think are good. Our players got out by misjudging balls and I hope we can perform better in our next match".

- 16 February: Canada lose opening match to Australia by 6 wickets. Despite a six-wicket loss, the Canadian under-19s have much to be proud of in this opening match of the World Cup. Their opponents were the pre-tournament favourites, Australia, who travelled to Bangladesh match hardened from the continuing Australian season. The Canadians in contrast had played just two warm-up matches since the end of the Canadian season, losing one, and only narrowly winning the other.
An embarrasing defeat looked on the cards when four wickets fell for only 21, but Gavin Bastiampillai (37) and Soham Anjaria (50) put on an excellent 92 for the 5th wicket, and skipper Bhatti weighed in with an unbeaten 30. The total of 164 was respectable, although unlikely to be enough against a strong Australian batting line up.
So it proved as the Australian openers scored at a rapid pace against the Canadian medium pacers, with the first wicket falling at 54 in the 6th over. Jethi slowed the scoring rate with excellent figures of 1/25 off 7 overs, but Australia ran out easy winners, making the runs off 28.4 overs.
Compared to the fate of the other "minnows" in the tournament (Scotland conceded over 400 runs, Papua New Guinea were bowled out for 60), Canada fared well against an extremely strong team. Their next match is against Sri Lanka tomorrow. CricInfo scorecard
