OPL league announced

Cricket Canada have the following release on their web site.

The Cricket Council of Ontario is pleased to announce the creation of “Ontario Premier League T20” and has provided sanction of the TDCA sponsored proposal to conduct a T20 tournament as “Ontario Premier League T20” or “OPLT20”. The tournament will be played for 10 consecutive days and will involve 4 teams chosen through a draft.

The tournament will be primarily including Ontario registered players that have played in Ontario for at least one full season. Each team must include in the playing 11, at least 2 u19 players. Out of province players may be considered on limited basis provided players produce an NOC from their cricket boards.

The tournament has 4 main objectives:
1. Provide High Performance Experience to Ontario players
2. Provide Quality Cricket entertainment event to draw spectator’s and stake holder attention
3. Attract sponsorships to Ontario cricket by providing a flawless and efficient cricket event.
4. Enhance overall image of cricket by producing and delivering a quality cricket event

More details will be announced in the coming days by the league administration.
